In terms of experience and the ability to make an impact right away, Mitchell has that in spades. He played four seasons at FIU and caught 100 passes for 1,663 yards with 12 touchdowns. He notched 64 touchdowns for 1,118 yards and seven touchdowns in his senior season — so he'll be red-hot heading into South Bend.
Mitchell was considered one of the best available receivers on the transfer portal. He took a visit to Notre Dame on Saturday and obviously, it didn't take long for him to realize that playing for Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish was right for him.
The Fighting Irish are expecting to lose over 30 players on their current roster either because of the exhaustion of eligibility, the 2024 NFL Draft or the transfer portal.
Rostered 2023 wideouts Chris Tyree, Tobias Merriweather, Braylon James and Rico Flores Jr. have all hit the transfer portal. Tyree was Notre Dame's leading receiver in 2023 with 484 yards and three touchdowns to his name.
