2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson Prop Bets

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry took down the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last weekend in a playoff. Now, the PGA Tour heads to TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, for the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Here, we'll focus on a few prop bets to add to your betting cards and why I like each play.

Seamus Power Top 40 (+100 BetRivers) and Top 20 (+280 ESPN BET)

Power was a golfer that Jack Bushman and I mentioned briefly on the Golf On Tap podcast ahead of the RBC Heritage as someone who could be a good placement bet or longshot outright target. The Irishman didn’t disappoint as he wound up finishing T12. Power has finished inside the top 40 in four of his last six events.

He’s also found success at this tournament since it moved to TPC Craig Ranch in 2021 with T9, T17, and T19 finishes. I’ll put more money on the top 40 as a safe bet, but +280 for a top 20 is worthy of a sprinkle.

Mackenzie Hughes Top 40 (-110 BetRivers)

The Mack-Daddy is quietly rolling right now. So far this season, he’s made nine of 10 cuts and finished in the top 40 in his last five events, including The Players Championship. Hughes is fourth in SG: Around The Green this year and finished T14 at this event last year.

Putting and racking up birdies might be crucial at TPC Craig Ranch as it rates as one of the easiest courses on tour. Hughes sits third over the last 12 rounds in SG: Putting, and he’s also been pretty solid on Bentgrass. A top-40 finish feels very likely.

Keith Mitchell Top 40 (-110 BetRivers)

Of course, I couldn’t go without including one of my boys. Although the visor-wearing Michell and Joel Dahmen had some fun at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, I imagine he’ll be back to business this week. Driving distance could be critical at TPC Craig Ranch, and Mitchell can certainly bomb it. While he finished T76 at this event a year ago, he remains one of the strongest options in this field.

At last year’s event, Mitchell was negative in the SG: Off The Tee and SG: Approach categories. Looking at his recent form for each, he’s fourth and fifth in those areas over his last 24 rounds. I fully expect a better performance from Mitchell this time around.
